School Admissions Application for Reception September 2019
If your child’s date of birth falls between 1 September 2014 to 31 August 2014 you will need to apply for a Reception Class by 15 January 2019.
You will then find out the school your child has been allocated to, on 16th April 2019.
Choosing a Primary School can be difficult, but we are very blessed to have very good schools in the area surrounding Abercromby. We suggest that you have a look at websites and make an appointment to go and look around any you are interested in, to help you decide if this is the right school for your child.
You can also find recent Ofsted reports, which tells you how the school is doing according to the latest inspection, on the Oftsed website www.reports.ofsted.gov.uk
Each school has its own Admissions Policy, which can be found on their website. This tells you how places are allocated at their school. When you do the online application, you will need to choose three schools and put them in order of your choice.
Children who have a summer birthday, whose birthday falls between 1st May and 31st August can defer or leave their Reception place for a year. These children, who are quite a bit younger than their friends, may not be ready yet for the move to a bigger school and would do much better after another year in Nursery to help them mature. Please speak to Tam if you would like to find out more. We have had many such “deferred Reception entry” children, who then start school aged 5, much more ready for the next stage of their education.
We are aware that some families, e.g. who may not have English as their first language, may like some support with their application. We can provide drop in sessions by appointment, where you can get help with your school application. Please speak to the office if you would like support.
