Despite very challenging weather, we had a fabulous time at our Open and Fun Day, on Saturday June 8th, an event for our local community. It was wonderful to welcome friends old and new to explore our beautiful Nursery School inside and outside.

There was the opportunity to visit each of our classes and talk to the staff about how we support children’s development, to help them make fantastic progress. There were games to play, like Lucky Dip, Pin the Tail on the Donkey, Hoopla, Tin Can Alley and our favourite Hook a Duck, each with lots of prizes to win. Children could plant a sunflower – but whose will grow to be the tallest?

People could join in with Forest School sessions and toast a marshmallow on the fire. The loveable donkeys were back to give rides around the garden, and there was face painting and a bouncy castle to enjoy!

We were entertained by Beatlife, who gave a very stirring performance and our Apple Tree Cafe was open for a hot drink, a jam and cream scone, cookie, or for the hard core – ice creams!

Thank you to all our amazing staff, governors and volunteers, who remained cheerful and welcoming despite the dire weather; without you we couldn’t do a big event like this.
