During the week commencing 26th February we invited in our families for our second Stay, Play and Learn sessions of the year – all about books and reading. We also celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as characters from our favourite stories.
We had lots of fun in our classes sharing stories together and joining in with lots of play and exploration around the stories we read. Willow Tree had “The Gingerbread Man” and Oak Tree had “The Three Little Pigs”. We opened our new Story Sofa, a cosy couch to share a story and the lending library with lots of books for everyone to borrow.
We had so many families who came which is brilliant as sharing stories together is one of the best things you can do to help your children learn and develop in every way. We also gave out a sheet on “Dialogic Reading”, which is especially good for developing language and reasoning skills. This is also in Arabic for our many of our families to access. Remember we have lots of stories in dual language format so you can read the story in the child’s home language and in English.
