Thank you everyone for your support and patience as we feel our way through the 3rd National Lockdown and Government Guidance, whilst trying to keep our children, families and staff safe in the Covid-19 pandemic.

We have been open to all children this week, but are concerned about the increasing numbers of families wanting places. The danger is that the higher the number of households mixing, the greater is the chance of children, families and staff getting Covid-19. The local Covid-19 infection rate is still very high and one of the highest in the country.

The Governors have a duty of care to the children, families and staff at Abercromby. To minimise the risks to our community, they have decided that from next week, Monday 25th January, we will only be taking children from key worker families and some vulnerable children. This will be the situation until half term. By doing this, we are mirroring what Primary Schools are doing. The next half term starts on Monday 22nd February and we will update you further via ParentMail on Friday 12th February. Your child’s place will be kept for them, until it is safer to return.

Staying at home is the single most important thing we can do to protect the NHS and save lives. We are in a national lockdown and you should only leave the house when absolutely necessary and keep to the rules. We have the hope now, that once more people have been vaccinated, and the infection rate drops still further, that we can live a more normal life.

Here is our Remote Education Plan which outlines how we will support you and your child to continue learning at home whilst your child is unable to attend, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Our staff will provide ideas for learning at home so remember to check Tapestry for daily stories and ideas for things to do with your child at home. Oak Tree children will have a daily Zoom session at 9.30 am and details how to join have been sent out via ParentMail. We are here to help and support you. Please get in touch with your child’s keyperson; they have sent you their contact details via Tapestry.
