We welcomed our families in on Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st November for our first Stay, Play and Learn sessions of this school year. We were delighted by the turnout as over 2/3 of our families came.
Tam, our Head Teacher, started off the afternoon by explaining how children – and adults! – learn through play. Research shows that first hand and real experiences have the power to ignite children’s brains by engaging all their senses to help them learn. We explored the difference it would make to learning about apples to be shown a clip art apple, and then the real thing growing on a tree, which you could pick and explore by looking, feeling, tasting and hearing. The best learning engages all the senses!
Families then had a wonderful time playing alongside their children in the rooms, exploring everything on offer. The children were very excited to show their families their favourite places to play and learn. We had so much fun together! Thanks for coming and we look forward to our next Stay Play and Learn in the Spring Term.
