Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
We welcome all children, including those with Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND), into our school, and are proud of the progress children with SEND make during their time with us. All pupils at Abercromby Nursery School follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and, if appropriate, are given further support through small group work and intervention. We are committed to narrowing the attainment gap between children who have SEND and those that do not.
Attendance is vitally important to enable children to achieve their full potential and we work alongside parents to ensure their child is able to attend school regardless of any additional needs.
At Abercromby, we have a fully trained senior teacher, acting as Special Educational Needs & Disability Co-ordinator or SENCO, to support families and their children with any additional needs. Our SENCO is Tamara (Tam) Bennett and our Governor with responsibility for SEND is Jo Eyles. If you have any concerns regarding your child, please make an appointment to speak to Tam or Jo who will be happy to meet with you.
