Our second Stay, Play and Learn session of the academic year focused on using books and reading. This was to tie in with World Book Day and Liverpool’s Readathon.

Families were invited to come in on 3rd or 6th March from 1.30 pm. and we started with a cuppa in Apple Tree room where Tam our Head Teacher led everyone in thinking about the magic power of books and reading to develop language and thinking. We looked at how to use Dialogic Reading techniques to get the most out of a picture book – see the information sheet below. Everyone then joined in with book related play in their child’s class.

Families were reminded about our Story Sofa lending library that is free to use. You can borrow a picture book to take home every night if you want! We also have an adult library, as reading is for everyone! We finished the afternoon with a lovely story session in each class. Thank you for supporting your children!
