About Us
Our Staff
We are a dedicated, caring and highly skilled team of professionals who are passionate about providing the very best start for every child. We work together to create a happy, nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn.
All members of staff hold current Paediatric First Aid training, ensuring that children’s health, safety and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. Our most recent whole-school Paediatric First Aid training was completed in October 2024.
At Abercromby Nursery School, we are proud of the warm relationships we build with children and families, and of the positive, inclusive community we create together.
HEAD TEACHER: Natalie Nichols is our Headteacher and also serves as the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring that every child receives the support, care and opportunities they need to thrive.
WILLOW TREE ROOM for 2-3 year old children
Teacher: Ria Humphries – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and Communication and Language Co-ordinator, supporting children’s speech, language and communication skills through engaging and inclusive practice.
Nursery Officers:
Salma Mohamed – Physical Activity and Nutrition Co-ordinator (PANCo), supporting children’s health, wellbeing and physical development through active and healthy lifestyles.
Tricia Jockins – Forest School Lead, leading engaging outdoor learning experiences that encourage curiosity, independence and a love of nature.
Lauren Mooney – WellComm Lead, championing speech, language and communication development and supporting targeted interventions to help children reach their full potential.

OAK TREE ROOM for 3-5 year old children
Teacher: Laura Hutchison – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and Maths Co-ordinator, supporting the school’s commitment to safeguarding, child welfare and the development of early mathematical skills across the curriculum.
Nursery Officers:
Sofia Pinchi – Maths Champion, promoting a love of early mathematics and helping children to develop strong foundations in number, shape, pattern and problem-solving.
Vicky Bromsgrove – Forest School Lead, leading engaging outdoor learning experiences that encourage curiosity, independence and a love of nature.
HOLLY TREE ROOM – SEND Resource Base
Nursery Officers:
Dawn Cottrell – First Aid Co-ordinator, supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of all children and ensuring high standards of first aid provision across the nursery.
Mandy Corrigan – Talk Boost Co-ordinator, supporting children to develop their speech, language and communication skills through evidence-based intervention and targeted support.

We take our responsibility to train up the next generation of early years practitioners seriously and so support the universities, local colleges and schools by offering supervised work placements for students throughout the year.
