Attendance and Punctuality
Nursery Attendance
At Abercromby Nursery School, we want every child to achieve their full potential. Regular attendance helps children build relationships, develop routines and make the best possible progress in their learning.
Nursery Sessions
At Abercromby Nursery School, we offer a range of session patterns, including our 30-hour funded provision, which is delivered over 4½ days:
30-Hour Provision
Monday to Thursday: 8.30am – 3.15pm
Friday: 8.30am – 11.30am
We also offer 15hours Provision:
Morning Session: 8.30am – 11.30am
Afternoon Session: 12.15pm – 3.15pm
Please ensure your child arrives promptly for the start of their session and is collected on time.
This arrangement provides children with consistency, routine and the maximum opportunity to benefit from their nursery education.
Reporting an Absence
If your child is unable to attend nursery due to illness, a medical appointment or another valid reason, please contact the school office:
Morning session children: by 9.30am
Afternoon session children: by 1.00pm
If we do not hear from you, staff will be concerned about your child’s welfare and will follow up the absence.
Please inform the school in advance of any medical appointments so that attendance records can be maintained accurately.
Holidays During Term Time
We strongly discourage holidays during term time as they can affect children’s learning and progress. If a family takes an extended holiday abroad of more than two weeks during term time, their nursery place may be at risk and could be withdrawn.
What Is Good Attendance?
Good attendance means attending nursery regularly and consistently.
- Every day at nursery helps children develop important skills, confidence and friendships.
- Frequent absence means valuable learning opportunities can be missed.
There are approximately 190 school days each year, leaving around 175 days outside of term time for family holidays, appointments and other activities.
Together, we can help your child develop positive attendance habits that will support them throughout their education.
