NSPCC PANTS Programme
At Abercromby Nursery School, keeping children safe is at the heart of everything we do. As part of our safeguarding curriculum, we help children develop an understanding of how to stay safe and know what to do if they are worried, upset, or feel uncomfortable about something.
We use the NSPCC PANTS Programme to support children in learning these important messages in a way that is appropriate for their age and stage of development. Through stories, songs, discussions, and play-based activities, children are introduced to simple, child-friendly ideas about personal safety, body boundaries, and trusted adults who can help them.
The PANTS Programme helps children to:
- Understand that their body belongs to them.
- Recognise the importance of privacy and personal boundaries.
- Know that they can talk about anything that makes them feel worried or upset.
- Identify trusted adults they can turn to for help and support.
By introducing these messages in a positive, sensitive, and age-appropriate way, we aim to build children’s confidence, support their emotional wellbeing, and empower them to speak up if they ever feel unsafe.
At Abercromby Nursery School, we are committed to working in partnership with families to ensure that children develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to stay safe.
