Daily Routines
Our routines and activities are carefully planned on a daily and weekly basis to maximise learning for our children.
Each room has a different flow through the day, carefully designed to meet the developmental needs of the children within each age group. Consistent routines help children feel safe, secure and confident, enabling them to build positive relationships, develop independence and fully engage in their learning.
Throughout the day, children have opportunities to participate in a balance of child-initiated and adult-led experiences. These include free-flow play indoors and outdoors, small-group activities, story sessions, singing and rhyme times, creative experiences, physical development opportunities, and focused learning activities linked to children’s interests and next steps.
Daily routines also include opportunities to develop independence through self-registration, tidying away, handwashing, serving snacks, making choices and managing personal belongings. Mealtimes and snack times are valued social experiences where children develop communication skills, confidence and healthy habits.
Language and communication are woven throughout the day, with adults engaging children in meaningful conversations, storytelling, singing and shared thinking. Children are encouraged to explore, investigate, problem-solve and work collaboratively with others through high-quality play experiences.
We recognise that every child is unique. Our flexible approach allows practitioners to respond to children’s individual needs, interests and stages of development whilst maintaining predictable routines that help children feel settled and ready to learn. Through these carefully planned experiences, we support children to become confident, independent and enthusiastic learners.
